Types of Antioxidant Feed Additives
Antioxidants are broadly classified into natural and synthetic types, each with specific applications and benefits. 
Natural Antioxidants

Vitamins (E and C): Alpha-tocopherol (Vitamin E) is a primary fat-soluble antioxidant crucial for protecting cell membranes, while Vitamin C is water-soluble and regenerates Vitamin E.
Plant Extracts: Compounds like polyphenols and flavonoids from rosemary, green tea, grape seed, and oregano are highly effective radical scavengers. Specific examples include:

Rosemary extract: Contains carnosic acid and carnosol, potent in preventing lipid oxidation in various meats.
Green tea extract: Rich in catechins, which are potent radical scavengers.
Carotenoids: Such as astaxanthin and beta-carotene, which are natural pigments with strong antioxidant capabilities and are particularly used in aquaculture to enhance coloration and health.
Trace Minerals: Selenium, copper, zinc, and manganese are cofactors for the body’s own antioxidant enzymes, playing an indirect but vital role in defense against free radicals.
Peptides: Short peptides like carnosine can also act as radical scavengers and metal ion chelators.
