Anhydrous copper sulphate is supplied for industrial chemical processing and laboratory use.

Anhydrous copper sulphate is a white or pale gray, odorless, and highly hygroscopic powder that turns blue upon absorbing moisture. It is widely used as a desiccant, industrial catalyst, and in agricultural applications. It is soluble in water, releasing heat, and serves as an analytical reagent. 
Common Applications: 
Drying Agent: Used to remove water from solvents or in laboratory desiccators.
Chemical Analysis: Used in Benedict’s and Fehling’s solutions to detect reducing sugars and in Biuret tests for proteins.
Industry & Agriculture: Used in mining, electroplating, wood preservation, and as an additive in fertilizers and animal feed. 

Safety and Handling: 
Hazards: Harmful if swallowed, causes skin and serious eye irritation, and is very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
Reactivity: Reacts violently with hydroxylamine, magnesium powder, and potassium chlorate.
Precautions: Wear protective gloves, clothing, and eye protection. Avoid breathing dust. 

Common Laboratory & Industrial Uses 
Analytical Chemistry: Used in Fehling’s solution and Benedict’s solution to test for reducing sugars.
Biological Tests: Component of Biuret reagent used to detect proteins.
Synthesis & Education: Acts as a catalyst in organic synthesis and is a standard material for growing crystals or demonstrating hydration principles.
Agriculture: High-grade algaecide and fungicide, often used for treating aquatic environments. 

Safety & Handling 
Hazards: Harmful if swallowed (H302), causes serious eye and skin irritation (H319, H315).
Environmental Impact: Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects (H410); must be disposed of as hazardous waste.
