Description

Vitamin C is supplied as a nutritional additive for animal feed and aquaculture diets.

Vitamin C feed grade is a crucial nutritional supplement for livestock, poultry, and aquaculture, available in various forms to enhance animal health, immunity, and productivity. It is widely used in South Africa and is available from various local and international suppliers.

Key Forms and Specifications
Feed grade Vitamin C is available in several forms, each designed for stability and optimal bioavailability in different types of feed processing.
L-Ascorbic Acid 99% Feed Grade: The standard, pure form of Vitamin C (white or off-white crystalline powder with an assay of 99-101%). It is water-soluble, making it easy to mix with feed and drinking water. However, it is sensitive to heat, moisture, and oxidation, so stabilized forms are often preferred for pelleted or extruded feeds.
Coated Ascorbic Acid 97% Feed Grade: This form has a protective coating that makes it more resistant to degradation during high-temperature feed processing like pelleting and storage. It typically appears as a white or semi-white granule and has a minimum assay of 97%.
L-Ascorbate-2-phosphate 35% Feed Grade: A highly stable derivative of Vitamin C, often appearing as a light yellow powder with a minimum assay of 35%. This form offers sustained release and is effective in mash, pelleted, expanded, and extruded feeds.
